Quadratic Equations
Quadratic equations have the form:

ax2 + bx + c = 0

where: a, b and c are numbers.

Quadratic equations can be solved by various methods.

Method 1
Factorisation

Method 2
Completion of the Square

Method 3
Quadratic Formula

Hints for Solving

Hint 1
Always make the right hand side (RHS) equal zero.

Hint 2
Arrange in descending order if this is not already done.

Hint 3
When asked to solve the equation correct to two decimal places, this is another way of saying:
USE the quadratic formula!

Hint 4
In solving a quadratic equation, use factorisation first.
If this seems a bit difficult, then use either the quadratic formula or completion of the square.

NOTE
If you are asked to solve using a particular method, you must use that method, or else you will score zero!
When preparing for an examination, you must be skilled in using any of the 3 methods.
